About Us
Based in Sevenoaks, Kent, GT&I are contracted to clients in a wide range of business sectors, from very small offices with just a few appliances to large organisations, including the National Trust, with thousands of appliances across multiple locations; from schools to let properties and homes of multiple occupancy.
We are a family run business with over 20 years experience. We have built a good relationship with loyal clients who continue to use us year on year due to our thorough yet unobtrusive approach. We pride ourselves in offering a bespoke, risk assessed service, whilst maintaining reasonable costs and high efficiency.
Accreditation
Accredited by ConstructionLine. GT&I have achieved accreditation with ConstructionLine – the UK’s most connected and progressive provider of procurement and supply chain management services, making contracting simpler. Ensuring that GT&I are both certified to carry out this work; have the relevant insurances; but also have an appropriate business and professional standing.
Health & Safety accreditation by Acclaim Accreditation. Acclaim is a member of SSiP and enables GT&I to demonstrate compliance with relevant Health & Safety legislation.
What is PATesting?
The definition “portable appliance testing” can be misleading. The Code of Practice for the In-Service Inspection & Testing of Electrical Equipment has a broad scope and applies to any appliance which is connected to a mains electrical supply. So the appliance may be portable or it may be stationary. It may have a three pin plug or it may have a hard-wired connection to the mains circuit – all should be maintained so as to prevent danger.
The Process
Our testing procedure adheres closely to that established by the IET in the Code of Practice for the In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment.
We find that many PAT companies will only do a “visual check” on sensitive IT equipment. At GT&I we have invested in equipment which can safely test IT appliances so that a complete service is provided.
Record Keeping
There is very little value in receiving a written report that just states whether appliances have passed or failed the test. In fact it defeats the object of In-Service Inspection and Testing. We record results in an electronic asset inventory which shows not just the current test status but also those of the preceding test periods. This helps to keep track of deterioration and can give some forecast as to when appliances may need attention or replacement in the future.
Of course, our test equipment must be safe and accurate. To this end it is annually calibrated and tested.
